A National Historic Landmark, San Xavier Mission was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797.
The Hovenweep inhabitants began building larger pueblo residential complexes over 800 years ago. . The stone course pueblos and towers of the Hovenweep people exhibit expert masonry skills and engineering. The builders did not level foundations for their structures, but adapted construction designs to the uneven surfaces of rock slabs.

Niches in the church at the mission in Tumacacori held specific saints for people to pray too. The church was built in 1756 and still stands at Tumacacori National Historic Park.
Barrio Viejo, also known as “Barrio Libre”, is a neighborhood that is located downtown in Tucson, Arizona. The Santa Cruz Catholic Church, or Santa Cruz for short, is significant for its construction using unstabilized mud-adobe bricks made in the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation. It is also the largest known mud-adobe building in Arizona.

Nuestra Señora de Luz is a small adobe chapel built between 1880 and 1891 for the people of Cañoncito near Pecos.The chapel, altered very little since its inception, represents a time when Cañoncito was the last stop for travelers on the Santa Fe Trail before reaching Santa Fe. The tiny chapel was serviced by a visiting priest who traveled from Pecos to say Mass.
Chaco Canyon was a major center of culture for the Ancestral Puebloans.Between AD 900 and 1150, Chacoans quarried sandstone blocks and hauled timber from great distances, assembling fifteen major complexes that remained the largest buildings ever built in North America until the 19th century.
